top ten bookish goals

Bookish Goals…. Wow, that’s deep and profound… Kind of like resolving?!?

Here they are, in no particular order... just what came off of the brain pan first!

*I will be on top of the Reading Challenge that I created – make sure I have links up for people to put up their reviews before the middle of the month approaches – and actually complete my own reading challenge… it should be great fun! (And I hope you take my Challenge, too!)

*Read more books from my shelf! As mentioned last week, we have several book cases, and I have a lot of books that I haven’t read.

*Do better about reading the books that I have requested from netgalley.com – this year it has been a lot of self-help types of books, in hopes of helping me with my Health Coach training and working towards my Certified Personal Trainer.

*I will continue to use the library as much as possible for books I am looking for.  I am pretty good about going to the library first, before impulse buying a book!

*I will continue to write reviews for books.  I fell in to the habit of writing quick GoodReads reviews for books that I really didn’t care about last year.  This year, I will try to write and post reviews here for ALL books I read.

*Organize my GoodReads shelves better!  Go through and clean up categories as well as create new categories.

*Write down books that I really want to find at those second hand bookstores, so when I go, I have an actual list in my purse to help me find what I am looking for.

*Start working on an A-Z list of books.  I think it is even one of my 101 things to do, and I haven’t even begun a list – well, I have started a list, but haven’t progressed on that.

*Memorize a poem.  I have said I wanted to do this for years, but haven’t done it.  We were watching Must Love Dogs again the other night, and I loved how the dad was known for the poems he quoted and how his children would guess which poet would be quoted!

*Read the 50k words that I wrote for NaNoWriMo in 2011 and finish the darned thing…if for no other reason than for our daughter who loves the story bits I send her while she is in Basic Training!

On a side note, last year I vowed to not buy any books (over $3.00) and I did really well with that!  Our bookcases were thankful!  What do you hope to accomplish this year?  Did you stick to any of your bookish resolutions last year?!

Oh... and if you are a Jane Austen Fan (who isn't?!?).... Be sure to check out the Party that Alyssa Goodnight (author of my absolute favorite Austentatious) and her pal at Stiletto Storytime have in store for the 200th Anniversary of Pride and Prejudice!
