top ten 2013 bookish resolutions

Well, I didn’t get to this last week, as I was too busy playing with our girls!  It’s nice to have your children come home for the holidays and having them in your grasp!

By resolving to read certain books, I take this category to mean that these are books that you have had intentions of reading, but never get around to them.  I have shelves, in our own home, of books that I own, but have never read!

So, the Ten books I resolve to read in 2013 –
                                           by Grabthar’s Hammer
             I WILL read these books….

Possession by A.S. Byatt – this book has been on my book shelf way too long.  I even dragged it across The Pond and back, and still haven’t read it!

Mansfield Park by Jane Austen – this is the only completed novel by our Dear Jane that I have not yet read.

The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett – I tried to read this to our girls when they were wee lasses, and they wouldn’t sit still.  The book was a gift from my mom, and it’s about time I actually read the story.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone (yes, Philosopher’s Stone – I picked this up in the UK) by J.K. Rowlings.  I have never read any of the Harry Potter books, can you believe that?!

Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare – one of those books that I just had to have, and it is still sitting there, just waiting to be read.

Madame Tussaud by Michelle Moran – I was dying to get my hands on this book, and finally got it, but I haven’t picked it up yet.

The Help by Kathryn Stockett – loved the movie and heard the book was great, too…. I shall have to read it to find out for myself.

Left Neglected by Lisa Genova – I heard about this book, picked it up some time ago, and it still sits on my shelf.  What a fascinating concept and I am looking forward to reading it.

Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert – I started reading this, saw the movie, and had to turn the book back in to the library without finishing it.  I have since picked it up at a bargain store and on my shelf it sits.  I enjoyed what I had read, and it was so much better than the movie!

Mercy’s Embrace trilogy by Laura Hile – Persuasion is my favorite Jane Austen novel, and this trilogy follows the older sister – I think it would be great fun.  Don’t know if I will get to the whole trilogy, but I can start on it!

Are there any books on your shelf that have been there too long, and you need to read them so they stop jumping out at you, trying to trip you are you reach for another book?  Do tell....
