1. What do you think of reading aloud/being read to? Does it bring back memories of your childhood? Your children’s childhood?
2. Does this affect the way you feel about audio books?
3. Do you now have times when you read aloud or are read to?

It's been a while since I have been read to.  The last time I recall was when our kids were younger (MUCH younger), and we were driving across Eastern Washington state. The one who wasn't driving was reading...until the cop pulled us over for speeding.  We were too engrossed in the story to pay attention to our speed!

Though, I have done books on tape...I guess we call them audiobooks in today's world!  I have listened to a few while walking in the mornings.  I found it was the only way to get through Mysteries of Udolpho by Ann Radcliffe.

A few years ago, we were driving (again....road trips) with teenage girls and did 'Inkheart' on cd's to get through Kansas.  We were all captivated by the story!  And couldn't wait to drive back home to find out what happened!

I always wished that our girls would have sat still long enough to read 'long' stories... Harry Potter, The Secret Garden, or The Chronicles of Narnia.  But they didn't.  Doesn't mean we didn't spend hours on 'Good Night Moon' and the like!

I am sure with future road trips with my husband, we will read to one another while driving...but now we have cruise control, and should be able to keep at the right speed!
